Mr. Bright Review

For my birthday last month I received the Finding Mr. Bright kit from Benefit! This is my first taste of Benefit cosmetics... since it super expensive over here and I've never been able to justify spending $50+ on tint or blush. This kit is $45 I believe... which actually isn't that much more from the US at $35 or so. I guess I am just really cheap.

Sorry for the blur :(

The kit includes Girl Meets Pearl Liquid Pearl 5ml, Erase Paste in 02 3.2g, Posie Tint lip and cheek stain 4ml and High Beam enhancer 2.5ml.

Everything is a nice travel size... and let's me test out some of the products before actually purchasing them. Though don't benefit sometimes give out some of these as actual samples?? Not quite sure..

Sorry again for the crappy photos! Just some swatches of them under natural light and with flash.

My thoughts?

Girl Meets Pearl
This is something I would wear only if I was going out clubbing XD It is a peachy golden shimmery colour that can be used lightly over the face or as a highlighter. I like it because it gives a dewy glow to the skin, however it can be difficult to blend sometimes! Not an everyday go to for me, but still lovely :) I wouldn't repurchase as I have other highlighters that I can use... since I rarely use them anyway.

Posietint
A lovely milky pink! I have a similar tint from the Face Shop so I knew I would love it. It blends okay... since it does dries quite quickly, so it takes some getting used to. The colour gives a nice natural flush to my pale skin and a hint more colour to my lips! I wouldn't repurchase this... since a lot of Asian brands have similar products for much much cheaper.

High Beam
My favourite of the bunch! It is a lovely satiny pink high lighter that suites my pale skin really well! IT isn't over the top with shimmer, so I love using it in the inner corner of my eyes to give a pop and draw attention to them. I may repurchase this, especially if the price was right :D

Erase Paste
I was a bit scared at first since it is in a shade that looks too dark for me... however it applies well on my face. It is a bit thick... but then again it is a paste! However I find it creases in the lines and is sometimes difficult to blend. Not my favourite concealer, but not the worst either. It does the job of removing some of my dark circles! I would like to try the lighter colour... but probably wouldn't buy it again.

Altogether it is a lovely set! I think it is suited for fair skinned girls, as the colours are a lighter alternative to other high lighters and what not! It has made me enjoy using Benefit, so I hope to get more when I have the money! I am thinking of buying off the website since the prices are in US dollars and shipping is free internationally if the order is over $125... which would be totally worth it since I could probably buy twice as much for that amount as I could here!

What is your favourite Benefit product? Anything you think I should try?? Let me know!

Tony Moly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar Review

Today I will be doing a very short review on the Tony Moly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar! Tony Moly is one of my favourite Korean cosmetic brands because of it's cute and bold packaging, as well as it being inexpensive!
I purchased these glosses off ebay, 2 for $10 (usually found on ebay for $5-6 each) with free shipping and they are available in 9 different shades. On the left is 03 Juicy Apple and right is 04 Juicy Cherry!

I think we all know why what drew me to these products! BUNNYS!!! They are the cutest things on my makeup shelf.
The packaging is a normal balm, you wind it up and down to dispense the product. I have found one of them can't wind down anymore so I have to push it back... which is annoying, but I have to do that with a lot of cheaper blams anyway that I own, so I'm used to it.
Each colour smells like the fruit it is named after, but it is light and not overpowering at all.

top: without flash bottom: with flash
left: juicy cherry right: juicy apple

My thoughts?
I love them! They are a great mix of a balm and gloss. A balm that makes your lips softer and smoother, while adding a nice flush of colour.
I have found it doesn't last a really long time... maybe 2 or so hours before it comes off. However, it does leave a slight tint on the lips well after the rest of the product is gone. Good for everyday wear to add a bit of colour and shine!

There isn't much more to say... it is just a really nice simple product that works really well. They don't taste bad, they are cheap, not sticky at all and they give your lips colour, which is all I look for!
The only downside is they are hard to get a hold of... but that's what I get for loving Asian cosmetics :(

Have you seen these before or tried them? What did you think? Let me know! :)

Tint it!

Oh goodness, I am so so sorry. I haven't posted in over a month... almost 2!! I'm not going to make up an excuse...I was just super lazy and didn't feel like it :(
BUT I AM BACK! For who knows how long... I have a few new products so that means a few reviews at least :)

It was my 20th birthday yesterday, and with that came celebrations and presents! However, I was sick. Really really sick. A mix of drinking a bit more than I should and the beginning of Spring gave me a killer sore throat and stuffed nose! I am feeling a bit better now though~ and I got some presents that I love :3

People who know me know that I love Lip tints. Give me lip tints over lipstick or lipgloss anytime. I think it is because I am super lazy at constantly re-applying, so I like tints for their long wear.
I received two new ones for my birthday to add to my collection!

The Rimmel Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Lip Tint and Balm in 300 Perpetual Plum (long name is long) and the Tony Moly Tony Tint in Cherry Pink.

I bought the Rimmel one out of interest from Priceline... it has only just been released in Australia (WHY SO LATE?!) and it was a cheap alternative to the Revlon and Maxfactor ones I had seen. It was something like $10.  The Tony Moly tint is off ebay, since it is a Korean brand. It is easily available all over ebay for less than $10.

Sorry I am not using my lips in the photo since it's hard to test two tints at a time because of the staining, and also my lips and face are realllly dry from being sick :( Hands will have to do!!

Above is the Tony Moly tint (left) and Rimmel tint (right) when first applied.

The Tony tint is very watery, it looks almost like ink in the packaging. You can see it applies with a strong pinky/red colour and goes on really smoothly to the lips, as the colour is spread evenly through its light consistency.

The Rimmel tint uses a design shaped like a felt tip pen...and applies just like one. I felt like I was colouring in my lips bit by bit. From what I have read, it is difficult to get a strong colour payout and I had this problem. It felt as though the the tip was drying up, so applying the colour was harder and more time consuming, as well as making it harder to have even colour.

This was around 40 seconds after applying. If I had left it a bit longer the colour would have stained almost completely :P

I am too lazy to write more... T_T I am sorry. I will just sum up some of the pros and cons of each.

Tony Tint:
  • Easy to apply, strong colour, dries quickly, cheap, can see how much product you have used, long lasting and smells nice.
  • Can over apply colour easily, doesn't taste mouth friendly :P

Rimmel Tint:
  • Lovely colour payout, has a balm on the end for moisturising, available in many colours, fast drying and long lasting.
  • Hard to apply, less colour payout, drying without balm and can't see how much product you have used.

Overall both work well for what they are, a lip stain/tint. They both last a few hours (from what I can remember... I was drinking when I wore them ><). However, I find the Tony Tint is a lot more reliable, as well as inexpensive. The rimmel just may have a few too many annoying cons that out shine the pros.

Have you tried any of these Tints?? What did you think?? Also, what is your favourite tint you have used?? LET ME KNOW! I love tints soo much :3

Dream Fresh

I am always waiting for products to finally arrive in Australia. I think every Australian girl is waiting for something to finally make it's way here. For me, it has been the Maybelline BB Cream.

Now, European and American markets have had this out for a few months, but no no, I have been waiting longer. I have been waiting for it since it was released in Asia.

I tired out this little beauty when I was in Singapore a year ago and fell in love. I should have stocked up but I was obviously very stupid. Though not like most Korean BB Creams, this product was light weight and smooth on my skin. Since Australia sometimes gets products from the Asia lines, such as the plain version of Baby Lips with no tint, I was hoping to get this. It never happened sadly :(

My boyfriend knows I always use BB creams, I have been for almost 4 years, so when he saw the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in France he was amazing and picked it up from me.

I am always the lightest shade when it comes to BB creams, so he chose Claire... which I had no idea meant light! you learn new things everyday... like Butterfly in French is Papillon, the cutest word ever!

It is a very runny texture, so handling the packaging is a pain the butt. I find it leaks sometimes which isn't good because there is hardly anything in there anyway with only 30ml! It's similar to the Asian version I find in this way.

When applied into my skin it is perfect! You can see it has a light coverage covering my freckles very lightly, not enough to remove them completely.

What I love about this is that it isnt oily like a lot of BB creams I have tried when first applied. It settles into the skin almost instantly for me!
It is SPF 30 so you know it is doing something good for your skin. Covergae is very basic, so if you are looking for full it isn't for you, but if you want to balance out colouration it works a treat.
I can't tell if it is similar to the Asian version, but I know that from my experience both don't disappoint.

I also think it is the cutest BB cream packaging to hit the stores, so yay to that!

I love it, I am REALLLLLLLY hoping it comes here soon... I am sick of waiting! Let's hope it is at a decent price too, fingers crossed to under $20.

Have any of you tried this?? did you like it as much as me???

Style Crush: Sohee

I don't talk much about what style I like on this blog, and it is really hard to sum it all up into words. I like a lot of fashion and makeup, from cute and sweet, to funky and eclectic. Personally, I find it hard to apply this to my own style... I am stuck in the safe zone when it comes to fashion and makeup. Simple is best for me.
However, that doesn't mean that I don't admire other peoples style. I have many 'crushes' when it comes to celebrities and what they wear. It isn't just about the face.. though most of them are extremely attractive... it's about them and their personal style.

Sohee is a member of Korean girl group Wonder Girls. She is 3 months older than myself, so at the age of 19 she has achieved a lot! She started training at 12 by joining JYP Entertainment company and debuted with the Wonder Girls in 2007 at 14.  She is the 'maknae' of the group, meaning she is the youngest, and with that she become one of the main visuals because of her cuteness.

The Wonder Girls tried to break into the American market in 2009 with varying success, and I think during this time is when they got to really grow. They had a lot of pressure to succeed, but also much more freedom away from Korea idol scene... which is very strict and secluded. During this time she grew into an adult and her own style really started to show through. She wasn't just the cute little member anymore.
It's very hard to tell what an idols style is like, as on stage it is all chosen for them. Most of the time you have to use airport photos of them to see. Sohee's seems to be very casual but with statement pieces that give the outfit an edge. A lot of these are reflected in her magazine shoots also.

She become famous with beauty brands for the use of winged eyeliner and also her 'mono-lids'. 'Double eyelids' are increasingly popular in Asian, and she helps break the stereotype that mono lids are 'ugly'. Her eyes are her statement, and barely anything else is used.

I just really think she is amazing. She is extremely shy and quiet, yet she grabs attention through her style. A very unique beauty.

This is their new single 'Like This' and a flash mob they had in Korea where they got MOBBED by thousands of people. I love watching and seeing the public dance, they know every move!

*I hope to do posts like this every so often! I have a few celebrities I really look up to so I hope to talk about them and bring awareness to Asian celebrities style.
*Photos taken from random tumblrs over time, I don't remember which ones ><

Wishlist #4

OH MY IT'S JULY ALREADY!! The days go by so fast...
I had a really bad blogging month in June, so I am going to try and make up for it this month!

As I have mentioned in previous posts, my boyfriend is in France right now, so I have been at home watching Running Man... which is the funniest show ever by the way.
He comes back in 2 days and from what he has lead me to believe he has lots of presents for me! I am very thankful I have such a caring boyfriend :)

Some things I have been longing for recently are:

* Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream
I have picked up Maybellines Asian release BB cream last year when I was in Singapore. I am hoping it is similar to that one, even though the packaging and name are different. I remember it being lighter than Korean creams but very hydrating! They should eventually release then in Australia... but who knows when!

* Nature Republic Dome Blusher

I have known about these for years because Goo Hara endorsed them but recently came to want one after I saw that The Body Shop and Shu Uemura also have similar devices! I love the idea of being able to apply it without a brush on fingers. It is impossible to find unless I can get it on GMarket though *cries* Why does Australia not have Nature Republic (let's add every other amazing Korean brand to that list) yet we have Missha and The Face Shop? :( The prices double here though...

*Holika Holika Pure Mellow Skin Tuning Starter

IT LOOKS LIKE MARSHMALLOWS!! I don't know if I am just slow when it comes to new products, but I know that some drug store brands are doing similar products to this, like this one by Almay. I have a feeling the Koreans did it first... they do a lot of things first. Or maybe I just notice them first because they are cuter... It is supposed to feel like you are applying your primer, base and a volumiser all in one and it has pearls in it so you know it is good for your skin! ^^

I will forever be an Asian skin care kind of girl. It is what made me love makeup! It just hurts so much that it is so hard to get here in Australia!

Also, I will be blogging soon with my gift from my boyfriend, so look forward to that! He says he has been to H&M and Sephora, YAY!

Damn you Australia and your lack of broadness in Makeup shops.

Have a good week everyone! <3

Gel Liners!

Hey guys, I am back... again! It's been almost 2 weeks since my last post... sorry about that :(
I just haven't had the determination to post... I haven't got anything new since I have no money, so I feel a bit sad lately. Gosh I need a job. I have applied at so many places but no luck at all!! Hopefully I hear something soon.

Anyway! Enough of the negative! I am going to do a post about two gel eyeliners I own. I bought these last year, and from what I can remember they weren't popular then... I had only seen Korean brands do them, so  I bought some a year ago from:

Tony Moly and Missha.
the Tony Moly Backstage Gel Eyeliner in Navy is probably one of the first ones I had ever seen.. or I just didn't know about Gel liners back then. Actually, I didn't know much about any makeup then.
It was the product that put Tony Moly on the map in Korea. It comes in I think around 8 different colours and is waterproof.
The Missha Fit-in Gel Eyeliner in Black and is waterproof. I'm not sure how many colours there are... but I know there aren't as many as the Tony Moly ones.

They both came with a brush which was really handy! The Tony Moly one is in the lid, much like the ones from Rimmel and Revlon. The Missha one is just a pot with a small brush to carry around... which I have lost some times!

Like most brushes, you have to clean them! I am too lazy to half the time, which I regret when I use them... The gel dries them out so much and they become really difficult to use. I think I need to buy a new brush because they just don't have the same smoothness and gliding power that they used to have! So clean your brushes people, especially ones you use with gel eyeliner!!

The Tony Moly one is a bit smaller, and the Navy blue colour is a bit difficult to see! I actually thought it was a black when I bought it!

When applied using the brushes, the colours are really vibrant! The Missha product has a more Matte finish to it, while the Tony Moly one actually has a slight shimmer to it.
The top is using the Missha brush and below is the Tony Moly one. The Missha one is used less so the shape that helps make thinner lines is still there, which the Tony one is much more difficult to use.

I tried to remove it using water and actually had to scrub hard to get this much off, so it is quite as strong waterproofing to it.

I am no expert on gel liners, and I haven't tried any other brands. However I do love the way they are easy to apply, the gel really does glide on, and unless you bump your hand a lot, it is quite easy to apply a very straight line. I find these are the best when it comes to applying a winged line on your eyes compared to liquid eyeliners and pencils because using a brush is easier (for me atleast).

I especially love the way that after almost a whole year they have not dried up! The  product is almost the same as when I first got them! It will take me awhile to even come close to finishing them, so I hope they last a little while longer!

Have you guys tried a gel liner you really love? Tell me which ones! I may need to invest in some more some day soon :)

Also, I will post more, I promise. My boyfriend is going to France to see his family so I will have lots more time to be bored out of my mind, which should encourage me to post more to fill that gap!

NOTD: Innisfree Yoghurt

Just wanted to share the nail polish I bought yesterday! It's by Korean brand Innisfree and is part of the Eco collection (unless all the polishes are?) and the colour is #81 Strawberry Yoghurt.

I got this from a Asian store in China Town for $5.50, which is actually cheaper than on ebay (yay!) but still not as cheap as places like GMarket or Korea of course where it is something like $2. It is avaliable in other colours which I am dying to try!

This is the result after 3 coats. At first I was thinking 'This colour doesn't look like the colour of strawberries!!' but then I remembered it had the word yoghurt in it, which makes much more sense colour wise. Mind my ugly unshaped nails in the picture -.-

I LOVE IT! :3

Everyday: Lips

I know, I have been gone for way too long if you noticed :(
My computer at home is still ruined, so I just check on my ipod, but I'm too lazy to update because of it's bad camera...
I am at my boyfriends now so I have a little bit of time to update!

I will be talking about my favourite lip products that I use on a regular almost daily bases!

Nivea: Milk and Honey, LipIce Water Colour: Kissy Pink, Maybelline Baby Lips: Mango Pie, Softlips: Vanilla and  Etude House Lip Tint: Follow Me.

I'll talk about the three balms first:
I have just recenlty purchased the Nivea lip balm and have fell in love with it, the colour, the packaging and the smell are all lovely. I apply this every hour when I have it because it is addicting! Not too sticky and not too shiny on the lips!
This is my newest Baby Lips! I own 5 of them. The packaging is really what draws me in.. the colors are all so cute and sweet, which compliment the smell very well. They can be a bit sticky, but I try not too apply too much!
The Softlips are the most amazing product ever. They are in no way sticky on the lips, they smell amazing: exactly like vanilla, and have SPF20. They also have that cooling menthol feeling when you put them on. I gave one of these to my brother because he was whining about dry lips and he used it all within a week because it was that good! Dry lips are all gone!

Lip Balms are what I hoard. I buy them because of the packaging or smell, and I never use any of them up before I buy more. These are just the ones I keep in my makeup bag I carry, I have plenty more at home!!

The two tinted ones. I did a review on the Etude house one here.

I bought the LipIce while I was in Singapore thinking it would be similar to the Etude House Lip Tint... Oh how I was wrong. It isn't like a lip tint at all, but more like a VERY moisturising lip stick. The colour isn't 'kissy pink' but more or a pinky coral.

As you can see the colour is a lot more pigmented compared to the Etude house tint.

What is great about these is that it has the qualities of a great lip balm or moisturiser, but with the added colour. It is very pigmented and stays on for a few hours, which means no drying like some lip sticks!
I'm hoping to go to either Singapore, Malaysia or Hong Kong at the end of the year so I will definatly pick up some more colours from this range. They are very cheap! I think I got mine for S$4, which is only like $3 here or something :D

Do you guys have a lip product you take everywhere with you? Or even too many than needed?

Nail favourites!

As someone who has just recently stopped biting there nails, I have become obsessed with nail polish even more. I need to wear nail polish otherwise I feel like I am just going to bite them... if I wear it I think 'They are way too pretty to be ruined!' while staring lovingly at the colours.
I used to buy nail polish about 4 years ago to put on my stubs. My collection was full of cheap, bright colours from The Face Shop. Sad to say, I stopped using them and they all dried up. Even while biting them I would still buy some cheap ones if I really loved the colours.

At the start of the year I had around 15... since about 2 months ago, it has doubled! Okay, 30 doesn't seem like lots but I am unemployed and have no money so I get all happy every time I buy just 1!!

Out of all of them, I chose my 8 favourites to show you my readers! :D

Tony Moly (not sure of the colour code or name) Mint Green?, Rimmel Lasting Finish in Strawberry Fizz, Canmake (again, no idea..) Blood orangey colour?, O.P.I. in Gone Gonzo!

Rimmel 60 Seconds in Instyle Coral, Ulta3 in Lollypop Lilac, MaxFactor Mini in Diva Violet, Revlon Polish in Girly.

Do mind the mess and also the little bits of stringy things... it's from the cotton wool when I used the remover!
In terms of colour, these are my favourites. I love bright, pastel and shiny colours!

Tony Moly: It takes around 3 coats to become opaque and chooses when it wants to work well -.- but I love the colour so I don't mind about the hassle!
Strawberry Fizz: The colour is adorable and application is easy, not to sticky consistency and only needs 2 coats.
Canmake: Almost opaque after one coat! Easy to apply and no hassle, however the colour can be too bright  sometimes :)
Gone Gonzo: Needs 3 coats for full effect. Is a bit sticky. I think it is better suited as a top coat over a light blue! Difficult to remove with nail polish remover.
Instyle Coral: I had a coral obsession and this one delivers perfectly. Not too bright and brush is easy to apply. Needs 2+ coats.
Lollypop Lilac: Lovely sweet pink colour. Easy to apply with 2 coats. Isn't very chip resistant :(
Diva Violet: Deep violet colour. Applies easily though not opaque until 3 coats. Chips easily though!
Girly: Silvery pink tint, applies smoothly with no streaks in 2 coats. Chip resistant, however difficult to remove with nail polish remover.

I love all these colours, and I will continue to wear them despite the little set backs. It is very difficult to make the perfect nail polish so it doesn't bother me!

What's your favourite nail polish? Have you tried any of my choices?

Wishlist #3

Here we are again! I have my fingers crossed I get a job in the next few weeks, so I am starting to think of what I reallly want again.

1. EOS Lip Balm.
A lot of bloggers have this and I have heard so many great reviews, so it is killing me that I am not the owner of one yet! They are just so cute and it is Winter here soon so my lips are going to need some loving from this product!
2. Chanel Nail Polish in Peridot.
There is something about this... If you explained it to me I would cringe, but I am hypnotised by the colour. I am hoping I can find a nice dupe sometime soon, since I have read there are a few... I'm just not sure about Australia having them yet! Or I can get my boyfriend to buy it for me a bit cheaper in France or something!

3. Tony Moly Skin Fit Snow Blusher.
I am not a fan of bronzers, and I own hardly any blush.. the ones I do own are all powder! Hence I really want to try this blusher by Tony Moly. The colours look great and it is a cream blusher so it appeals to me more!

The list goes on...
What are you really wanting right now??

Mini Haul

My first official 'haul post'! I don't know if it's just me, but I really enjoy looking at other peoples hauls.. I even have a tag on tumblr so I can look at ones from random people. I find it a great way to find out about new products or fashion! :)

So mine is a mix of 2 days... I will put them together though because there is hardly anything -.-

I bough the essence nail polish in the colour 'absolutely blue' for about $2.50 at Target. I heard the polishes are fairly good quality and I just loved the colour... it looks purpley but it actually more blue.
The two Maxfactor polishes I bought from Priceline. They were 2 for 1 (BOGOF) at around $6 each and I purchased the colours 'Ivory' and 'Diva Violet'. The colours go so well together... They have a small collection of 6 and every single colour goes so well together.

I originally bought Burgundy and Dark Ash Blonder Revlon Colorsilk hair dye, however I used the Dark Ash Blonde and then wanted to go lighter, so with a voucher (which I will mention later) I went back and got the Medium Ash Blonde to try! These are on sale at Priceline right now for about $10!  And let's all hope my hair turns out a light colour like that... but maybe not THAT blonde.

The Head and Shoulders Shampoo and Conditioner is probably one of my favourites, especially sometimes when I get realllllllllllly bad dandruff... so I was ecstatic to pick this up from Target for only $4.50 or something! One alone usually costs $6... bargain!
I also picked up the L'Oreal Paris Elvive Anti-Breakage Shampoo and Conditioner for $3.50 a pop at Priceline! I knew I would be dying my hair.. so I felt these might help out a bit if my hair gets too stressed... hopefully it calms it down!

Who doesn't love dry shampoo? I bought this one because it is Australian (I help out sometimes I promise), Cedel does great hairspray so I thought I would try this... also I run out of dry shampoo so fast because I have too much hair! I bought it on special (like everything I buy) for I think around $6 at Priceline

The reason I bought more than usual for someone with hardly any money is because at Priceline there is a special offer that I mentioned in my last post! If you spend $40 or more on selected hair care brands you receive a bag or hair care goodies priced at over $185! To get to $40 I bought the 2 hair dyes, shampoo and conditioner, dry shampoo and some hair ties! What you receive in the bag is various Shampoos, maracon oil, hair treatment, dry conditioner and a few other nifty things! There is a voucher to purchase the Revlon hair dye for free in store, which I think is a good idea as you get to choose the colour that you want and aren't just given a random one!

What do you think??  Is there anything you like that you see? :)
